HEC Council NAEAC AIC Team visited for BS Food Science and Technology Program Accreditation

Accreditation Inspection Committee (AIC) team of Higher Education Commission (HEC) National Agriculture Education and Accreditation Council (NAEAC) visited Hamdard University, Faculty of Engineering Sciences and Technology for accreditation of BS Food Science and Technology program. Additionally, there was an awareness session for both BS Biotechnology and BS Nutrition and Dietetics programs. 










HU BME Students at IBDC Conference

IBDC Conference Dates: November 22-23, 2022

HU BME students presented two conference papers and four poster papers at IBDC conference held at NED UET main campus organized by IEP. On second day, I was session co-chair for the technical session 4. On behalf of HU BME department, I am thankful to NED UET BME department for their tireless efforts in making a successful event to promote the Biomedical Engineering profession and Institute of Engineers Pakistan for organizing such marvelous events.

Synthetic PPG through Python Code

It is interesting to convert the Matlab code in the chapter 2 of the textbook [1] to Python for experimentation ref. to HU pulse project, despite the online octave compiler facilitates the results generation from Matlab code.

HU Human Pulse Project Takes a Steady Start on Hardware

Finally, the computer simulation, i.e., EDA part based on LTspice XVII is completed; and the HURC funded project is now entered into the Hardware prototype phase. This also marked the start of Software module.

Meeting Minutes

The meeting was started with the Tilawat-e-Quran by Engr. Dr. Muhammad Faris, Assistant Professor and Program In-Charge. The convener, Engr. Dr. Tariq Javid, Associate Professor and Chairman welcome PhD faculty members and meeting was formally started with the first agenda item.

1. Research Strategy: Gaining the HEC PhD approved supervisor status and post-doc opportunities nearby through collaboration 

All members agree on formulation of a research strategy for career progress, i.e., towards faculty promotion and towards student grooming. For this agenda point, the discussion included holding seminar sessions and submission of review articles.  It was also discussed that the research terminology should be introduced in the first semester introductory course for each program. Furthermore, ideas toward research mindset and to promote research culture at the undergraduate level were discussed.

2. Service Model for the Profession: Gaining excellence in teaching and to offer service to the Hamdard industry through linkages

The professional practice and industrial linkages for each PhD faculty members were emphasized. Related discussion points included student internships and faculty industry visits. There was a specific focus on Hamdard Industry visits in order to provide professional services. The faculty members expressed their diverse opinion and views, however, it was agreed to strengthen the industry-academia linkages. Members were highlighted the overlap in all three agenda points.

3. Product Development Process: Each program should identify and adopt a product development model of respective discipline 

All faculty members agree to follow standards for product development to ensure national and international level acceptance. The discussion points include adoption of standards like FDA and relevant to product development appropriate to the program.

Meeting was adjourned with a vote of thanks by the chair to faculty members.

Meeting minutes:

The meeting was started with the recitation of Sura Al-Fatiha by the chair. The chair welcomed all participants and formally started the meeting with the agenda items. In a circulated form, all PhD faculty members completed the details of their tentative FDP session, attached. Three book titles were identified tentatively to produce in this semester, each by the respective program. There was a short discussion on the research strategy. The chair clearly communicated the need to align research efforts to the national benefit and as a service to the Hamdard business. The meeting was ended by the vote of thanks by the chair. 

The agenda items for the next meeting are as follows. 

  • Research strategy : Gaining the HEC PhD approved supervisor status and post-doc opportunities nearby through collaboration
