HU FEST Participation in ICFAS 2023 at SBBU Shreingal

31 July 2023 - 08 August 2023 

Faculty members of the Department of Applied Sciences and Department of Biomedical Engineering, FEST, Hamdard University attended the International Conference on Food and Applied Sciences (ICFAS 2023) was held at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU) Dir Upper KPK and presented their research work in the form of oral presentation, accepted abstracts. The conference was held 3-5 August 2023. I was part of four members team including Prof. Dr. Saghir Ahmed Sheikh, Chairperson, Department of Applied Sciences. FEST Karachi team is thankful to the HU Islamabad Campus for stay of two nights and providing pick-drop services for the visiting team. 16 abstracts were accepted from FEST and presented at the conference. Thanks to HURC for providing the funds and especially to Dean FEST, HU ORIC, and VC HU for approval. 

 

Discussion Session with FPCCI Officials

16 August 2023

HU FEST ORIC organized an interaction with the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI) officials for collaboration in research and development projects, especially, empowering women through education and training. Among many projects, the officials show their interest in projects having women's participation and linked to education and health. Ms. Shamsa Jawed Ahmed, Convener Central Standing Committee of FPCCI Education and Training, and Ms.  Seema Shahbaz, Deputy Convener Central Standing Committee of FPCCI Education and Training. 

Attended 3rd Innovation Summit

I attended the session of the 3rd Innovation Sumit along with FEST colleagues at HU FEST conference room. 

HU BME at the 2nd IBDC Conference

18-19 August 2023

Hamdard University Biomedical Engineering Department students and faculty members attended the 2nd International Biomedical and Digital Health Conference (IBDC) organized by the Institution of Pakistan (IEP) and NED UET. The theme of the conference was Healthy Horizon. Hamdard University was among the conference partners. I was the session chair for technical session 1 on day 2 of the conference. After the technical session, I evaluated a few posters as well. HU BME participants were Engr. Dr. Muhammad Faris, Assistant Professor, and students: Ms. Aliza Sohail Ahmed, Ms. Fatima Irshad, Ms. Omema Shakil, and Ms. Maham Arshad. 

Hamdard University ORIC Organized Session on Research Issues

Thursday 10th August 2023

Hamdard University Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization organized a session on Research Issues at Bait al-Hikmah Auditorium. All chairpersons and nominated faculty members from each department of the Faculty of Engineering Sciences & Technology attended. Prof. Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, Dean of Research was the presenter who highlighted the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan recognized journal system, HJRS; categories W, X, and Y. The selection process of the journal for (co-)author honorarium was discussed in detail. 

  

Attended 1st International Food and Agriculture Exhibition at Karachi Expo Center

FoodAg is Pakistan’s first international food and agriculture exhibition showcasing the potential of Pakistan’s dynamic agro and food industry. This exhibition provided a unique opportunity to visitors and exhibitors through its networking and matchmaking platform. It was a common meeting place for investors, exhibitors, and buyers. FoodAg aimed to enable producers, importers, buyers, exporters, retailers, and media personnel to meet and exchange ideas. The event was held: 10 - 12 August 2023. 76th Independence Day Celebrations at Hamdard University

Monday 14th August 2023

The 76th independence day celebrations were held at Hamdard University Karachi. The participants reached the Bilawal Stadium at Hamdard Public School (HPS) to witness the start of the event with a number of performances by students from HPS and Hamdard Village School. Afterward, the participants moved to the University for many performances by the HU students.
